Will A LHD Passengers Seat Fit Into A RHD Car?

I need to replace the drivers seat in my RHD 1996, W124, E320 Cabriolet. Thought I could use a passengers seat from a LHD car if it would fit in term of the electrics. I have heated, electric, memory, mushroom leather.

Questions are,
Will it fit and have all the options work
I assume it will except for the memory as I am not aware of memory for a passengers seat unless the memory function is in the car and not in the seat, does anybody know for sure.
I would like to have an orthopaedic seat which requires a vacuum operated pump. Does the pump sit under the rear seats as in the sedans or is it in the seat already. If it is in the seat is it just a matter of teeing off the vacuum line for the seat lock.

Very much appreciate informed advice, regards to all, Inspector.

Most likely they are interchangle. We don't see very many RHD cars.

The passenger seat will be lacking the folding armrest, it is always built into the drivers seat.

Yes, I can understand that Doc.

I think mechanically it should work like a charm but I was particularly interested in the electrical side of things, plugs, fuses, and general operability. Maybe somebody who has leather heated, memory, in a Cabriolet or Coupe could remove the plastic cover & take a photo of the terminal block under their right hand seat at the front and post it here for me to see if it looks the same. That would be a great help and would go a long way to determining if they are the same especially if pictures of the connector pins were available.

I am also particularly interested to hear from Cabriolet or Coupe owners who have the Orthopaedic option as I would like to know where the vacuum pump is located. In the sedans it is located under the rear seat, I wonder if in the Cabbies & Coupe's it’s in the front seat itself, thereby making retrofitting this option just a matter of teeing off the vacuum line from the seat lock.

As for the arm rest holes I do not believe this to be a problem as, as far as I can see MB only ever put the arm rest on the left seat regardless of LHD or RHD.

Thanking you all in advance for the assistance you may be able to provide.

Inspector.

On a RHD car the passenger seat (left) has the armrest.

I would assume from this that the same seats are installed regardless of LHD or RHD.

That's right cobber.

I am really after a drivers seat for my NZ new, 1996, E320 Cabriolet but finding one in Aust, NZL or the UK is proving difficult, so I thought of going to the LHD markets, Europe, US, Canada etc to see if I could improve my chances by getting a passengers seat from those LHD cars.

If you have any contacts in Australia for a replacement seat for a 93 through 96 Coupe or Cabriolet I would very much appreciate a reference.

Best regards to all, Inspector.

If you haven't been there yet, go to Ozbenz Australia's site and ask the same question. here : "http://ozbenz.net/index.php".

Otherwise I think you are pushing the antipodean stuff up hill. Only slightly more than a handful of those cab's would have been sold in our area. They were extremely expensive when new. Have you not considered a rebuild of your seat?
