I got my first 4 Matic(99E320 wagon) last fall and can honestly say it is the best awd system I have driven. I have owned Quattro and Subaru models and the Benz is just so much smoother.Seamless 2wd-4wd operation-you don't really notice it is working until you see the exclamation point in the dash. i put 4 snows on mine and found motoring at 100 in 6 " of snow to be a non event.Nearly impossible to lose this thing in the snow! Go for the 4Matic-Mine has been great @130k-

Snow, go with 4-matic.

I have absolutely no use for AWD in Florida, but if I was back in Boston I wouldn't go without it.

Motoring at 100? If you mean 100mph in 6" of snow then you belong behind bars.

I would get the 4Matic if you live in an area where it snows...it may sound trite, but it could mean the difference between life or death in certain situations.

If the weather is THAT bad, its probably better to not go out into it in the first place!

I've driven in some seriously bad blizzards/snow in my W126, and I survived fine. I've driven down streets with snow as high as the bumper. As long as you don't have to stop, it will keep going. :D
