The pedal doesn't sink, I tried that!

So your complaint is spongy, but brakes are OK?

Yes, there is more play/travel than usual but it doesn't sink all the way down.

That indicates the pads are not seated ...I have also seen that when one uses too much Anti-squell paste on the back of the pads.

I think you may want to drive it for a while and get everything seated in.

And see if there is a bleeder on the ABS unit.

hmmm, ok, I installed pads all around, I could have messed up but I didn't use any paste. I have been driving the car for over a week now, maybe two. The car stops and brakes ok but it's not what it used to be and it doesn't inspire confidence.
I don't recall a bleeder on the ABS unit but then again I never serviced that unit so I could be wrong.

New pads take a while to seat.
I would not worry about it too much...short taps on the pedal when coming to stops is a good way to help seat them faster.

MOTIVE should be at 30psi (unless the earlier cars are different). Is it possible you admitted air to the system if the forward reservoir ran low and you didn't notice? Can you get to a dirt road somewhere and cycle the ABS system?

This time I didn't use my Motive power bleeder but I simply used the old tried method of filling the brake fluid reservoir then pump n' bleed
I am guessing like some have mentioned that the power bleeder somehow introduced air in the system. I have used that power bleeder on all of my cars before without problems but this time was different.
Anyway, the pedal is firmer and the car stops on a dime.

Yea, I guess I'm old school because I never use a power bleeder. I just get a neighbor or one of my kid's to pump up the brakes while I bleed them. I just get a jar put some DOT 4 in it, connect a small rubber hose to the bleeder and the other end into the jar so no air can get in.
