190E No Spark
After a 4 hour flawless trip, I parked my 190E for the nite. (1984). The next day got in it started fine and drove less then 500' and it just died. Would not start back up. Pushed back in garage and left it alone for the day. Following day I check fuel pump, OVP relay fuse etc. Checked spark and had same. Put coil wire back on and car started right up. Ran fine idling for approx 10 mins. Gave the throttle a bit of a goose and it died. I lost spark. I have 12v to the B+ Terminal, Ground is ok, and I have pulses comming from the stator in the distributor. I also have 12v to coil and 12 volts on coil terminal of spark control module. I am assuming Spark control module went bad? I have heard they are known to?? Anyone had similar problem?

Before replacing the Ignition Control Module, check the Crankshaft Position Sensor first. It plugs into the upper left position of the ICM.

I have the same identical problem as dieselnutnj. (1984 190e 2.3l)
On the ICM there is not a connection for the CPS. How would one test the CPS, and where is it located? I'm kind of lost on what could be wrong. Here is a photo of the wiring diagram for a 1986 190e. http://www.justanswer.com/view_image.aspx?href=http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/eurotec/2009-11-24_121806_78098919.gif |
