Windshield washer fluid pump
I'm getting no fluid from the nozzles onto the windshield in my 1991 300E.
The tank is filled and the fuses are fine but I don't hear any noise or anything when from the pump when I try to use it. Anyone know where the pump is located in the car? I did a thread search and found nothing. Nick |
I own a '92 300E. My car has two washer fluid pumps located on the front of the wiper reservoir. One pump is for the windshield nozzles and the other is for the headlight nozzles. Hope this helps. BTW, when I bought my car a few years ago, the headlight nozzle pump was bad. Easy replacement. Just be sure to replace the rubber grommet which seals the pump at the reservoir.

Thanks for the info

Windshield washer pump

Here's a photo. Mine doesn't have the headlamp washers, so there's only the one pump for the windshield. If you have headlamp washers, you'll have a second pump in the empty space on the right. BTW, the rubber grommet at the bottom of these pumps is VERY important. Before you spend money on the new pump, try just replacing the grommet. That may take care of the problem.

Thanks Cal
Would a missing or dried out rubber grommet not make it work at all? |
Right, a bad grommet would keep it from working at all. Years ago, I had the same problem. My indy threw in a new grommet, and it's been working ever since. Original pump still (21 yrs).

apply 12v to the pump to test or swap the lines with the headlight pump. Since you have water in the tank it's either the switch, pump, or clogged or kinked lines...
