New rear springs on w126

I've decided to fix the slightly sagging rear end of my '88 420SEL. I'm replacing both OEM rear springs, and my question is: is there anything else I should replace as well? I'm pretty sure the shocks don't need to be replaced, but is there any reason to replace the front springs? I haven't had any problems with anything, but I wanted to make sure that there aren't any components that should be replaced along with the springs.

Thanks for any help.

You may want to take a look at this link, which discusses the need to replace bad rear subframe mounts on w126's.

Apparently this situation contributes to the "sags".

I have a similar problem with an 87 420SEL, but I can't access the website - can you tell me more about the problem with rear subframe mounts on W126 models? If the mounts are replaced, do the springs still need replacing also to bring the rear end back to normal? FYI, I recently had all four shocks replaced.

thanks, Joe B.

BigPimpin, ...measure the rear height ( left and right ). Whatever is the results, ..that's where you base and what thickness of spring pads that you have to install in order to correct the rear alignment. Hope this works for you.
