CLK320 2001 - No AC
 

The AC on my 2001 CLK320 is not comming on. What should I check and how should I check it. The blower fan works, just no cold air.

Can you hear of visually see the A/C compressor clutch engaging? Checking the pressure from the low side pressure port would be the next step. Did it stop cooling suddenly or was it more gradual?

Upon turning the ac on this spring, No cold air. In winter we usually keep it on EC mode. I am assuming the low side port is the one in the engine compartment just next to the washer fluid resevoir.

Hooked up a guage (in-line with a can of coolant) guage reads full and no coolant is taken in when temp is set on 66 degrees.

Fuses# 20,26,and 25 are ok.

Without the compressor running, the low-side pressure is not any sort of indication of whether your system is full.

Any ACC codes? That's the first thing to check. Also, it is not a good idea to run EC mode in the winter. The system is designed to be used full-time, except when it shuts itself off.

Ok, so no EC mode. How do I check the codes?

If you have the pushbutton unit, you can extract codes from it. I don't know the procedure for your car off the top of my head and the manual isn't here, so hopefully someone else will come up with it. Unless you can find it with a search, that is.

Typically you read the codes (write them down) and then clear them as the last step before you turn off the key.

Where is the pushbutton unit?

Does you car have the automatic climate control with the LCD screen or manual controls with rotary dials?

Yes and I pulled the sensor readings and looked for errors. There were no errors.

The sensor readings were;

2-83
3-79
4-80
5-70
6-158
7-7
8-88

I am assuming that 7 is a low pressure reading meaning that i need to add coolant, however it would not take any when I tried.

On my 1987 I can jump the pressure sensor and get the compressor to run an therefore load the coolant. I can't figure out how to do that on this 2001 CLK320.
