rear parking brake cables r/r
89 420 sel 196k
The driver's side parking brake cable broke off inside the wheel at the shackle. After looking over the passenger side, I decided to replace the passenger side cable as well and purchased a brake shoe kit. I have the wheels completed and the cables are threaded through the proper holes and sitting next to the main shackle where the three cables come together. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can get rear cables attached to this shackle? It is not locked up and I have backed out the tensioning screw and removed the spring but I still need about 1/4 - 1/2 inch of length to get the cables over the hooks... I can't find a DIY on this anywhere. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. |

Make sure that the parking brake pedal is allll the way up and that you've gotten the whole system as slack as possible.....it really is a pain to hook those cables on....it took me about 45 minutes of fiddling with mine recently before I managed to hook it. I was nearing insanity.
