DUMBEST QUESTION TODAY!!

Ok, how do I turn on my fog lamps on a 98 e 320 (w210) to try an trouble shoot them??

One side only comes on when exiting the vehicle, and I would like the other to work.

I have NO lamp warnings or likewise??

Well I have a C not an E however:

1) Read the owners manual

2) In mine I think I pull on the headlight knob. But I think the lights have to be on also, not sure.

1. I would love to read the manual that I dont have, why do you think I posted this question???

Mine has a twist knob with 4 position ( left,rt Parking, running lamps, and headlights) are you sayiong that if the switch is in the headlight position I can pull??

Yes.

Put the knob in headlight position and pull out until you hear ONE click. You can also pull out one click with the knob in running light position. That turns on your fog lights. Pull out 2 clicks and it turns on some rear fog lights.

Most people have manuals for these cars. Don't take offense as most people have manuals for these cars, but that's why we have resources like forums, right?

Have a nice evening and hope you can get everything sorted out alright.

Ok, like I said It was the "dumbest question today"
I bought this car used and it had no manual or tool kit so I am attempting to get to know this car a little better since it is my first MB.

I went out and tested this theory and Show nuff it worked .

Thanks

Not a dumb question at all. I do suggest getting yourself a manual for your car. They are rather inexpensive when they pop on eBay and they go over every feature that your car has. There are a lot of cool "hidden" features that your car has that you might never find out until you get one. ;)

Take care and enjoy your car.

For about thirty years at least, there are six positions on U.S. imports. Middle position, straight up, is the off position. All lights are off. Two clicks counter-clockwise illuminates the left side "parking" lights. One click counter-clockwise illuminates the right side "parking" lights. One click clockwise is all the parking lights. At this position, you can pull the knob toward you to turn on either the fog lights or running lights, whatever is installed on your car. Two clicks clockwise turns on the headlights, (parking lights stay on). At this position also, you can pull out the knob to turn on the fog/running lights. Don't know about pulling out two clicks. Never heard of that before. When you turn the knob back to "off", it automatically turns off the fog lights too.

Pull out toward you on the headlamps switch, once it is in the headlight on position. To turn out, depress button.

The fog lamp bulb is easy as pie to R & R on our series W210s. Just reach under there (after you've dropped the front pan that encloses the bottom of the engine compartment) and twist-left the socket and pull out and depress bulb, twist left and lift out of socket. Do not get your hand's body oils on the new bulb - maybe it doesn't matter, but I also only use bulbs bought at the Mercedes-Benz dealer. Cheap or off-brand bulbs can ruin the delicate MB wiring on this series. Do not be a hero and buy bulbs from even NAPA for it.

Actually, this car has a small door under the bumper that has two cam type fasteners, turn them 180 degress and the door opens, then there is a cover that has a push lock, once opened there is a small wire clip that holds the base of the bulb in position, unclip this wire and the bulb comes right out. and of couse installation is in reverse.

but thank you all .
