HELP! 380SE head remove-does intake manifold need removed?
I am changing the head gasket on the right head of my '85 380 SE.I need to know if the intake manifold needs to be removed to removed the right head? One repair manual I have says that On 3.8 and 5.0 liter engines ,the intake doesn't need to be removed to get the head off?can anyone verify this?Any other hints would be appreciated too!

THE HEAD CAN BE REMOVED W/O REMOVING THE INTAKE MANIFOLD BUT THE TIME YOU MIGHT SAVE ISN'T WORTH IT!
ANY MOVEMENT ON THE MANIFOLD WILL HASTEN GASKET FAILURE ON THE OTHER HEAD TO MANIFOLD JOINT. ALL GOOD HEAD GASKET SETS COME WITH BOTH INTAKE GASKETS MF |

head gasket
Thanks Mike!
can you give me some more info? where is the time saved by removing over not removing. It seems like there is alot of things to disconnect/reconnect by taking it off? mark |
