2002 W210 Wheel Bearings???
Hi,
My 2002 E320 (87,000 miles) has starting making a noise that sounds just like a front wheel bearing. I can also feel a very slight, high frequency vibration in the steering wheel that wasn't there before. I replaced both wheel bearings and I still have the "wheel bearing" sound - "whoop....whoop....whoop" at low speeds a "roaring" sound at highway speeds. In times past on other vehicles, wheel bearing replacement has eliminated this noise. What else should I be looking for? Steve |

Assuming the bearing replacement was done correctly it should have eliminated that though I can say that in the past when I suspected a bad bearing I was able to pinpoint it by feeling as I turned the wheel in question with the corner lifted off the ground. There would be no reason to replace both sides if only one went bad as they aren't known for failing and having one side go is a fluke, especially with the relatively low miles as your car has (mine has 2X+ yours and no problems...never even repacked them).
I would say if you have a noise like you described you might have a bad tire...try swapping fronts to rears and and see if anything changes. You can have one with a belt that has shifted and can cause the kind of symptoms you described.

Does it vibrate at idle? Could be bad motor mounts.

Sounds like broken belt on one of the tires.
