Just out of curiosity: OVP

My car has the 2-fused version. I know that one seems to control the fuel injection computer and the ABS system, but what about the other one? What might that one control? This is simply out of curiosity. Thanks.

The 2 fused version was for cars with a special traction system.
The 1st USA version car that had that was the 1990 300E 4-matic.
Then cars with ASD or ASR & still using CIS systems w/o can circuit.

MB decided to supply only the 2 fuse version back in 1995-96.

So, basically, if my car doesn't have nightmare-matic, then one of the fuses basically does nothing?

It is just a production cost thing where the extra added circuits for additional systems are cheaper to make in a universal unit than to make different OVP specific models..so, that extra fused circuit is just not used on some cars, but it is on another, allowing for one relay to fit many models.

You will notice on your OVP plug socket connector that there are blank sockets..on other models they are full..allowing the manufacturer to use even the same 9 pin sockets and wiring them accordingly for each chassis for additional cost control and a single part to fit many models.. Same socket will allow different wiring/models..so, same deal...........
