300TE Driver's Seat partially inop.

Car is 1992 300TE W124. About 155k miles.

When it got very hot outside, the driver’s side rear seat height adjustment stopped working on one side ONLY (inner side). The other side (outer side) moved up and down freely but twisted the seat (I put it back to where it was to avoid damage from the twisting). I checked fuses and all seem fine. A couple of days later it worked again as normal (lowering from my wife’s raised position to my all the way down position). I was able to move it up and down a few times. Same day, it got parked in the sun and now it’s hot and does not go back up for my wife. I looked, and the cable drive attached to the inoperable inner height adjustment is moving when activated, but nothing happens on that side. All other parts of seat seem to move fine.

Is this maybe just a good lube job or am I looking at a more complex mechanism failure? And if lube what is best? I am thinking tri-flow to losen it up then white lithium ...

Thanks!

My cable had come out of the little box with the gear. I took it apart and put it back in the center of the gear. I also put some grease back on the gears. It had all been spun off to the outside edges of the box.
If you search for the problem and use my name, I posted some pictures when someone else had the same issue.

ok so you mean the gear by the joint (outboard on the seat) right? You had to pull the seat for this repair correct? Thx

I did pull the seat, but you might be able to take the cushion off and reach through the springs.
