Part ID please!
 

Hey all. I have a 92 300e w124. On my cars exhaust... specifically... the end of the exhaust... there are two large diameter "rubber bands" that hold the tail-pipe in place. One of them is missing on my car, causing the exhaust to shake a whole bunch. Anyone know the part # on these bands? I can't see anything written on the one that is still in place. Thanks. Oh... this is a stock exhaust we are talking about...

Thanks! Here is another question for you guys. I was looking at the air intake tube from the airbox to the front of the car, and I was earlier contemplating taking off the scoop at the end of the tube that deflects air at high speed. I tried to unfasten the scoop, but it is held in place by 1 plastic screw which is attached next to the front right (if you are looking at the front of the car) headlight, which seems to be attached to a holder which I can barely reach with my finger, much less stabilize. Any thoughts on how I could undo this screw and remove the air scoop?

WHY!? Taking off the scoop will give you ABSOLUTELY no improvements in performance. It's there for a reason.. I wouldn't mess with it!
But if you must... then I can't help you! :eek: ;)

The reason for taking the scoop off is for increased airflow. At low speed, the scoop is fine for drawing in cold outside air, but, at high speed, the scoop deflects passing air, so the car actually has to suck air through a partial cavity in the air, limiting the amount of air it can draw. By removing the scoop, but still keeping the intake up at the front, you can improve air movement. At high speed, it would be similar to Donald Swinford's ram air. I am going to do that also, but I don't fancy a big pipe running across my engine to the airbox, so as soon as I figure out another routing way, and when I move back to the house so I can get all my drills etc... I will be ram-airing my car.
