W123 EGR Diagram questions (1983)_with Pic
 

See the Black tube labeled "a" and circled red. The end that comes through the firewall and into the drivers side (to start with)... where should this vacuum hose be attached? Currently in my car, it is just hanging freely around the break and accelerator pedals.

Never Mind... I will leave this here for anybody else. Searching for "Vent to Passenger compartment" came up with: It is not connected to anything... just open the atmosphere to let some air in and possible let air out.

Yup that what it is.
Although I do not undertand the logic of venting anything from the engine compartment to the cabin. What is wrong with just venting in the engine compartment.:confused:

I suspect it has to do with possibly letting air in...less dirt in cabin than engine.
