Cam sensor clearance check.
Hi,
Ever since we rebuilt the engine and ran an aftermarket ecu the car has never started as well as i would have liked,so in checking for possible causes of this problem i noticed that the intake cam pickup is around 1.5mm from the sensor!...looking at my haynes manual they say it should be between .4 to .6mm clearance. If so could this hinder startup?....it would be nice to bring the sensor closer to the pickup, but its not as easy as it looks...i guess we either file down the sensor or sensor mount,or bend the pickup out slightly(but then it wont be parallel with the sensor). Any input is appreciated, cheers Paul http://memimage.cardomain.com/ride_i...0490_large.jpg |
Yes, cam sensor input is required for correct injector sync.
Bending the tab would be the way to correct the clearence issue. |
Not sure about the car, but isn't clearance adjusted with shim/washer with different thickness? I guess 1.5mm is without washer

Thanks Doc!.
Shims are used if you are too close to the pickup, where as im to far. |
