Of course the most common cause for this is fuel delivery, have the fuel pressure & the fuel delivery tested. The fuel pump sends 10-20 times as much fuel to the engine as it needs, so have it tested.

Hi,
We have a 1996 C180, we had a problem where when the car was idle, it seemed like it was miss firing and when you put your foot down it spluttered. whilst on the road anything above 70mph you wouldn't know there was a problem, but overtaking and increasing the revs it struggled. We took our car to our local dealer, they found that the Lamba Sensor was knackered, it cost us £90 plus VAT and labour, total bill was £245.00, expensive iI know, but it runs like a dream now! Hope this helps, Lisa |

C180 MISFIRE
LISA SOUND'S LIKE A RIP-OFF LAMBDA PROBE COST £60+£34 FITTING CHARGE AT MY LOCAL MERC DEALER
THE PROBLEM WITH MY CAR WAS THAT IT WOULD NOT PULL WHEN COLD, BUT WHEN IT WAS WARM IT WOULD RUN OK UNTIL IT HIT 3500-3800 RPM THEN IT STARTED TO ACT AS IF IT HAD A REV LIMITER .GETTING THE EXHAUST GAS ANALYSED AT MY LOCAL MOT STATION CONFIRMED THAT THE LAMBDA WAS FAULTY , MY TOTAL COST WAS £60+£34+£5 TOTAL £99 A BARGAIN REGARD'S |
