A.C. recharge
91 300se, 126 body. I am going to evacuate the airconditioning system and recharge it. I have a small can of "pag 100" oil charge ( 2 oz. of oil and 1 oz.of r 134) Is that the proper amount of oil to use when recharging an A.C. system. Milt.

When servicing a modern circulating oil a/c system without a complete flush, knowing the amount of oil to add is nothing more than a guessing game.
That said, unless the system has leaked and recharged multiple times your plan is probably as good as any. Perronally I would not follow that plan unless I knew the histroy of the system. If I had no idea about it's service history I would want to completely flush, replace the r/d, fill with the specified oil amount, evacuate and charge. Hope this helps. |
A.C. recharge
Larry: Thanks for your imput. I don't think it has been recharged many times so I will go with the "pag 100" and hope for the best. Milt.

Your car originally shipped with R12. Was it converted to R134a?

It is much more likely that you have POE oil in your system.
If you use any PAG, be sure that it is double end-capped (DEC) PAG. Otherwise, it reacts with residual chlorine. So no, I would not use that can to inject the oil. |
A.C. recharge
Yes it was recently changed to R134 from R12. The cannister of oil I have says for R-134a systems on it. Made by "Interdynamics". I don't see any sign of "double end capped, (DEC) PAG" on the container. Will check into it further. Thanks for your help. Milt.
