W124 HELP!!! Door locks out of control 1988 300E

Hello,

I have a very strange issue with a recently purchased 300E. The locking mechanism on the driver's side door didn't work to start with, but today after installing a new door panel on the driver's side the locks went haywire! Before, I could lock the car using the trunk lock and the passenger side door with no problems. But now about five seconds after locking the car, the car unlocks itself! I have tried locking and unlocking the doors about a hundred times but nothing works. PLEASE HELP!

Thanks,

Roy

There must be a wire shorted or the switch might be damaged/installed wrong in the door.

FIXED!!!

I got it! There was a minor issue with the driver's side door, no big deal, but just enough to prevent the lock from closing all the way. Thanks!

Care to explain further? It's always nice just to post so if anybody searches in the future, the answer is given.
I personally like reading all threads so if anything ever happens, or a post in the future is made I can "hey I vaguely recall...etc.."

Door lock issues

The button on the driver's side door was turned down onto the piece of metal that it screws onto. It was turned down so far that when I tried to lock the door the plastic button inhibited the button from going down into the door as far as it needed to in order to lock. So basically I was obstructing the lock mechanism from working, as it should have.
