How does 300TE seatback release forward?
Hi,
Just picked up a nice 300TE to go with my 300E sedan. I don't have the owners manual and can't figure out where the release is to allow the rear (actually middle) seat backs to rotate forward. Could one of you 300TE owners help me out please? Thanks! |
It's automagic. You must have the bottom seatcushion rotated up and forward and also have the door open. The seatback may then be folded flat. There is a small button operated by the door which releases the seatback catch. There is no manualy operated release.

Great, thanks!

They are also usually stuck -- you will need to work them back and forth a bit to get them to release if you don't fold them down very often.
The headrests come out and go into the seat bottom, too -- little button at the base of one upright. Peter |
Headrests!?
I just bought a 300TE with no owner's manual and, it would appear, no rear headrests. Now I'm all excited about the possibility they might be hiding in the seat bottom as psfred described. But I can't find any "little button at the base of one upright". Can anyone provide more clues?

The buttons that allow the headrests to be removed appear when the headrests are installed.
Also, what psfred meant was that when you fold the middle row seat, you'd need to remove those headrests to allow the seatback to fit flat. Typically the headrests are removed and stored in the holes located at the rear of the seatcushions, which come to the top of the seat cushion when they are lifted forward. Hope this helps |
I was hoping they were hidden somewhere but now I understand how it works (if you still have headrests which I don't). Thanks for the clarification.

I remember thinking 6 months ago 'how does that seat fold down then?' and thinking nothing of it until now.. I never would have figured that out..!
Mine has 2 seats in the rear too = 7 total, is this available in USA? later |
