1995 no crank after air bag deployed
I'm sure it's a simple fix, but I bought a wrecked C220 and both bags deployed. The car will not crank. Were's the reset button?
|
and whenever the driver door is open, the buzzer sounds for the key in ignition. windows work, lights, sunroof, but turn the ignition key and there is no cranking.
I really don't want to have to pu sh this vehicle into my bay, but unless someone knows how to fix this thing in the next few minutes, I'm going to work up a sweat. |
Buzzer and lights are ZERO indication battery has enough power to turn starter motor.
Sure it's in neutral or park? |
I guess I should ask what happens when the air bags deploy on a 1995 C220, that prevents the car from cranking? Anything?
|
Battery cells probably cracked in the wreck. Try a different battery.

no it's nothing like that. more along the lines of SRS inhibiting the car from starting. well it's been pushed in so I'm not in that much of a hurry anymore. but I would like to know if it's as simple as reseting the code from te diagnostic connector.

Lock and Load
I remember a large number of customers arming the anti theft system and preventing engine starting. I have never heard of the SRS preventing engine cranking or starting.
A starter lockout relay module was to the port side of the hood release handle after 12/93 production |

OK, Bypassed the alarm/theft by the igntion switch. Purple wire spliced, connected to green wire that went to a relay. The only other contact on the relay went to a black wire which traced back to a purple wire. So I connected the green wire to the black wire. But still no cranky.

Puzzled, I pulled the cluster to look at the wiring. It's all there. I traced the wires, nothing seemed wrong, so I decided to move the gear selector. After the third attempt the cat cranked when the selector was between "R" and "N"
