New ignition, old tumbler, no starting
Yesterday we replaced the ignition unit and protective cover on my friend's
'90 300 SL. We put the old tumbler on it. The started cranks but does not start. I do not see any ignition at the plugs. Do we need to reset anything? ALLData software indicates that ignition unit and tumbler is supposed to be replaced as a whole and the tumble cap is not supposed to come off so I am surprised that the dealer would sell the untit without a new tumbler. Thanks

You problem is related to the ignition switch in the housing.
You need to replace the one came in the new steering lock as it is meant only for 1993 & later SL's!

Thanks so much for your help. Now I see that the old and the new one are not the same.
