w/ wipers will not stop.
My 1980 300SD Wipers do not stop, tried controller in combo switch, it's ok.
The biggest frustration is: Where in the h... is the wiper relay? MB doesn't know or have diagram. I think the problem is here. If you have a clue on what is up here and especially where the wiper relay is, please reply a.s.a.p. It's raining here. Thanks Robert Mullins rambob |
There is no relay.
There is a interval wiper control, only used in the intermittent position of the wiper switch. Other than that, it's hard wired from the switch, which is why I voted for the comination switch being bad. The wiper motor itself has a park switch, but if memory serves correctly, if that goes bad, the wipers shut off where ever they were when the switch was shut off. They won't just keep running if the park switch goes bad. Why worry about the wipers working all the time if it's raining there? When it stops, disconnect the wiper motor. Gilly |
HOW TO FIX IT
Dan, Do you or does anyone have any ideas on how to make it work?
I bought 1 new combo switch and aquired 1 from an auto wrecker. All 3 combo switches gave the same results. Wipers stuck on intermitent switch works fine. Electrical schematics show that there is an interval switch or relay, also a separate wiper/relay. The wiper relay is a part sold for the 1980 300SD. Thanks Robert Mullins RAMBOB |
