exploring my options (m117)
Hypothetical question.
Lets say I wanna rebuilt engine standing by. I have a 1974 117.983 4.5 Engine. Can I rebuild the block and crank but use my 117.986 intake manifold?

That would be EFI block, mechanical lifter heads & CIS manifold? Sounds plausable.

I've been told that the older cams in the newer heads would be 10-20+ hp because they're profiled with lower emissions standards. And I suppose since the entire valve train assembly would have to get swapped, it'd be easier to just swap the heads. I havn't had a real close look yet, but do the injectors on both engines go into the the intake ports thru the intake manifold? or straight into the head? If they're in the intake manifold then that's very favorable. Any chance the injectors use the same bung??
