Another engine transplant question

Having searched the archives, I haven't been able to find the answers I need - Due to new draconian company car tax laws due in the UK next year, I am having to get rid of my much loved E280T. The essence of saving money on the car tax is to have a low emmisions registered car eg, a 2 litre merc - I am specifically looking at getting an E200T W124 maybe 1996 model. The question is how difficult is it to slot in a bigger motor like a six cylinder 2.8 or 3.2 (or even 3.6) . Presumably I'd need the auto box to match ? Would the suspension set up be different to account for the weight up front ? Are the brakes the same on all the W124T models ?
All help gratefully received.

I would think that this would be quite practical IF!!! you have a complete donor car of the same series. The donor car might be one that has been seriously rear ended or otherwise available such that the engine, transmission and front suspension are all intact.

I wouldn't take on this project unless the donor car was sitting next to the recipient car. That way you can get every little bracket, linkage, connector, etc.

Good luck,
