HELP SRS light on! after disconnection of battery
 

Had to disconnect the battery to install a new head unit. Car was w/o juice for 2 hours. When I got done went to the store to get some food and my srs light came on. If you turn off the key and then just start the car it stays off. If you drive the car about 50 feet it comes on and stays on. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm a little nervous to drive now. Drove to work this morning (about half hour commute) and the bag didn't deploy but still nerve wracking.

Your airbag won't deply if the SRS light is on. Believe me, the engineers are smarter than that! You may have a problem, but I wouldn't worry about random deployment (unless driving a Volvo.:eek: ;) ) .
Sorry, I can't help with your solution though.

What car? Any other symptoms?
 

If your car has an overvoltage relay (OVP), I would check the fuse on top of it. If you car does not have a OVP, disregard...

Hmm, Muskie, you're lucky. I had to pay $80 for them to test (they can only RESET if after testing it...!) and RESET mine when I had put in a new seat belt buckle.

Sorry about the brain fade. The car is a 1988 300E. I must have knocked something loose when I dropped the wrench behind the battery and had to fish it out.
