Door Jamb Switch Replacement - 1997 W210
Car is 1997 E320. The plunger button on the jamb switch for the driver's door is missing. I don't know where it went. I assume I will have to replace the switch. Can switch be replaced from outside or must B pillar interior trim be removed? If this is the case it looks like I have to remove the plastic piece at the bottom of the pillar and then remove the fabric covered trim piece that runs up to the seat belt opening. How does one remove these trim pieces without damaging them? TIA

No, it should pop out with the wire attached. Part nr 2028202110 - you can see a picture in fastlane.

Thanks. I've ordered new switch and will look it over. Image looks like there may be keepers on two sides. Depends on thickness of the frame metal I suppose.

Mine shattered when I shut the door with the seat belt clasp in the way. Now I make sure that it's out of the way.
Yes, there are keepers on the sides, and yes, it comes right out. Just don't drop the wires into the pillar. |
Dome lights & mud lights take 4-5 min to shut off Checked all the door switches (and cleaned the contacts) and the trunk switch - all good. Now what?

describe first, that may help narrow things down. failing that, there is an outside chance that it is an electronic issue vs electric |

Also check for a shorted switch. |
