Warranty on work done under warranty
What is MB's policy in warranty on work done under warranty?
For example, if a car had its head gasket replaced by a MB dealer under warranty due to a leak, what is the warranty on that repair? Thanks. |
It would be the same as the dealer’s standard stated warranty, or the remainder of your warranty, whatever comes last. I had a conversation with a dealer about this topic near the end of a Starmark plan. The service rep stated that when the Starmark warranty ended so did any warranty on work performed. I disagreed under the supposition that one can’t arbitrarily shorten a stated warranty due to convenience or circumstance, unless otherwise stated in the warranty. I never had to test this, however….

...warranty provisions should be documented on the back page of your RO (assuming MB fact auth service)
hope this helps -fad |
Thanks, fad. Will read the back of the PO.
A related question: Will I have to go back to the same dealer to have the work done? |
Warranty work done under warranty is good only while the car is still under warranty!!
For example IF the car has 49,990 miles & waranty work is done then at 50,000mi the waranty is done!! However most of the time GOODWILL warranty will cover repairs for 1 year, BUT that is up to the ZONE service rep! |
thanks Benzmac
Lou- it would appear to make sense to return to that dealer that performed the initial repair good luck -fad |
M.B.DOC:
Thanks for the info. That is pretty pathetic warranty work done under warranty. I am going to write MBUSA about this as my situation is very close to what you described. The head gasket and seals were replaced at 48kmi in 8/2000. The warranty on the car expired on 3/2001. Now at 59k (or about 10kmi later), the thing starts seeping again as the area is a litle damp. |
