95 C280 running really rough
So it has been running rough for a little while but I could turn if off and start it back up and it would clear up for a little while.
I have been ignoring the issue. Well yesterday it started running really rough. popping both out the exaust and the intake and sputtering when I press the accelerator. I have already replace the MAF, the solved the issue a few months back. Check engine light was on but went out... I believe the bulb burned out. when I put a OBDII scanner on it it shows no codes. could the O2 Sensors be causing this issue, could I be misfiring on 1 or more cylinders? THanks |
So I changed the plug wires had to after inadvertantly pully the wire out of the boot. on one of the wires.
while I was at it pulled the plugs and had a look, they are really sooty, like the car is running rich. going to take to a local shop tomorrow. anyone in the South Pasco, North Pinellas have any recommendations... I have been told Werner's in Tarpon is good. Thanks |
Recommend Werners in Tarpon Springs, FL
They are a family owned shop, The Father is a factory trained MB master mechanic from way back when. The son now runs the garage portion, he was first trained by his father and then went to Germany and also became a factory trained Master mechanic.
Did full diagnostic with Star Diagnostic System, and gave me a great price on parts and labor, they knew that I was only looking for diagnostics. Their shop is clean and they are professional and very honest. Shop Rate is $82/hr. I will be ordering my parts from Phil and will repair myself but just wanted to tell everyone about a great shop. and diag, shows I need air mass meter, after cat o2 sensor, and #2 cylinder coil. |
The MAF only lasted a few months? Was it OEM?
|
It was used... I shouldn't have gone used... but it was like $30
