Does my car have heated seats???

I was reading a few threads on here because I want to replace my interior dim, yellowish, OE lights in my 1990 190E with some upgraded LED lights. I took out all the fuse bulbs, including my license plate bulbs to see what sizes hey were. I then remembered the bulb under the center console that barely lights up the "3", "2", and "D" and removed the bulb.....I then found something unusual...a plug underneath the console right below the passenger rear window switch. Didnt know what it was for so I grabbed my manual and it said something about heated seats, but the picture was that of a manual transmission model. Anyways, I only saw one of those plugs and I cant locate another one so I wonder if this is for heated seats or not. I took some pictures and even wrote down the part number (016 545 2828). Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Your last picture is a little too out of focus but, it looks like the female connectors in that plug are receptacles for flat blades rather than round posts. If that is true, that plug is used for the radio fader. If you have an aftermarket head unit the fader and the original speaker wiring may have been abandoned or just the fader bypassed.

Yes!!! They are for flat blades and yes I have an upgraded mp3/dvd player. Ok, cool, for a minute there I got really excited because if my seats had heat, then I could possibly make them cool too (as I currently live in the desert and don't really have a need for heated seats with an average temp in the mid 80's year round except for when its 115+ during the summer months)

If your car had heated seats you would have wiring to the seats themselves and you would have switches.

True. But it wouldn't have been a surprise if the seats were heated and the previous owner took them out because where we live it would make no sense to have seat heaters anyways. I did find where there was a car phone hook up with the jack and everything under the back seats....won't be needing that though with cell phones. Matter of fact, that's illegal too now.

I doubt anyone would spend the time and money to remove the switches, replace the panel to get rid of heated seats circutry. what you found is probably the remants of a "after market" cell phone installation, where the transmitter was located below under the seat cushion. The seat option would have consisted of not only the switches, the wires, the timers to shut them off after a pre determined time but also the heather pads that are installed in the cushions.
run the VIN

If you are thinking thermo electric cooling forget it. Thermoelectric cooling, also called "the Peltier Effect," is a solid-state method of heat transfer through dissimilar semiconductor materials.

Agreed. Would be time consuming, but where I live everyone is retired and has nothing but time. Anywho, we already determined that the switch or plug that I found under the panel was a fader plug for the factory stereo. Plus I had a friend of mine at the MB dealer run the part number through epc that confirmed it. Thanks for your input everyone. This forum is the best.
