'97 c280 Misfiring
When I attempt to punch the gas from a dead stop I hear a popping sound and suddenly, I lose compression. It's almost as if one of the spark plugs stops firing, because it idles rough. To correct the problem I shut of the engine and start it back up and it runs fine. The check engine light's been on since the problem surfaced. Any suggestions on what the problem is????

This sounds like a lean miss...I would check for a hose or intake pipe blown off.

Check Engine LIght
Ok, Then how do we get the "Check Engine" light to go off.

Unplug the battery for a few minutes.
It will clear OBDII codes. |
Radio code
I disconnected the battery to clear the check engine light, but now my radio is asking for a code. I called RBM of Atlanta and they told me they would reset tthe code once a title or bill of sale was faxed to them.
Just out of curiousity, what could I have done to blow a hose or intake? Could it be hard driving. I occasionally test my car against bimmers and Audi's on GA 400 HWY. |
No, I don't think that this is any direct result of your driving behavior.
If you have your originial owner's manuals and covers, the code should be in there. Try calling MBUSA... or drive over to the dealer to get the code! GOOD LUCK! |
