M103: Idle speed not increasing with CC on
Hey guys,
Intermittently over the last year or so my '91 M103 has had a low idle @ stoplights when the A/C is on. Just recently (even in these colder Fall temps with the heat on) it's decided that it will have a really low idle with the CC on in any position other than "Economy". Can anyone tell me where exactly the relay/servo/doodad that's supposed to increase the idle with the A/C and/or climate control on is located? Is there any way to test it? Any other advice for fixing this? (Like, is a vac leak a possibility culprit?) Thanks! |
Yes, make sure you don't have any vac leaks first. Try to clean the ICV (Idle Control Valve) and then see what happens.
If all fails, you can adjust the airflow meter potentiometer by nudging it a little where the idle will be a little high under load (I am cheating here). Avoid messing with the air fuel mixture screw as much as you can. |
Could a sticky ICV really be a possible culprit?
I was thinking something A/C related... But this could actually make a lot of sense: I'm also having an occasional stall where the idle just nose-dives as I'm decelerating quickly. It's quite logical that the ICV could be sticking to cause that. Food for thought anyway... |
Quick follow up:
New ICV solved the problem. Also solved my SSS issues. |
