I have replaced the sparkplugs and wires but still not running well. how do I get the wire harness off of the individual coil?

The year will help.

Sorry, trying to post a picture but it did not load. 1994 I believe a 104 eng.

I do not have that car, but I looked at the coil on All Parts Express and it looks identical to mine. There are 3 connections: 2 for the plug wires and one to the harness. On mine the harness connector is a black connector that just pulls off. Does that answer the question?

the wire that goes to the associated plug just pulls off but the wire that excites the coil seems to clip on and rotates freely. I am afraid to break it. Does it need a special tool? or can it just take some force? Any advice on how to check which coil is bad without swapping each one? Thanks

That connector just pulls off. By the way, you might want to verify you have the correct plugs installed. (Bosch F8DC4 or a NON RESISTOR, NON PLATINUM equivalent) If you use resistor type or platinum plugs in a 104 motor you will have misfire problems. The 104 motor uses a "waste spark" ignition system and it is very finicky about having the correct plug installed.

The databases that most parts houses (Autozone, Oreilly, NAPA, Advanced, etc) use list incorrect plugs for the 104 motor.

Bosch F8DC4's are sometimes hard to find but they are still available. Check with our site sponser, I bet they can send you some.
