Brake shudder
Sometimes when I come to a complete stop my front rotors shudder, and it shudders when I'm almost completely stopped, not when I'm slowing down. I'm confused because it only happens randomly, sometimes. It doesn't matter if the brakes are hot or cold, it just happens randomly, so that leads me to believe they are not warped. What could it be?

Dirty or faulty ABS sensors?
|
I have the same problem and it causes my left front brake to groan loudly...I also suspect the ABS sensor so when it started happening again what I did was force the ABS to engage on some wet leaves (with caution of course:)). That immediately stopped the problem occurring for a little bit. I will be DIY'n the ABS sensor soon...I might need a new one...I think the one there is the original.
Hope this helps.... |
It doesn't matter if I brake lightly or hard, just when the car is nearing a complete stop, doesn't matter if it's from 50 MPH or 15 MPH. But it hasn't been happening lately, for about a week now, but it will probably come back. I know they're not warped because the pads have been changed when they were supposed to be.

Checkt he Rotor Adjustment on the rotor. should be an allen key. I had a similar problem, and when I changed pads, I noticed the rotor had a lot of play in it, tightened down the allen nut or bolt or whatever you want to call it, and the rotor had less play and my brakes feel great.
I believe this is some kind of adjustment tot he rotor to remove play as it wears. I am not sure on this, but pop off the wheel and look for the allen bolt to tighten down if it can be. Could be something in the suspension like a worn bushing, but I'd say its either that adjustment, or a dirty sensor.. Could be warped slightly, but I would think that would be felt at any speed. Thanks for the advice everyone, Alon now that you mention it, I think there bushing in the suspension might be worn, along with some other things I might want to fix. When I park, and I turn the steering to the right I hear this creaking noise from the suspension.
