124 transmission swap

Hello - does anyone know if the automatic transmission from a 1990 4-matic, will fit into my 1986 300e? Same 103 engine in both - and minus the transfer case of course. Thanks very much.

I think from a 4matic to a non-4matic will work, but not the other way around.

Thanks for the this. I have access to one from a 4matic parts car so we'll see. Getting it out - and then into my machine will be an interesting/fun challenge.

You can make anything in these cars work. For example, an 87 diesel transmission into my 92 gasser coupe.

im looking for info on my 91 300ce 24 the tranny is blown and wanting to know what else will work, its a 5spd auto will a 4 speed auto work and if so what models, this is my first mb so any help will be appreciated
