w126 cabin sensor not sucking air - odd problem & fix
I decided to finally do a little 'work' today and checked out my cabin temp sensor. It ohmed out fine, but the little hose wasn't pulling any vacuum.
I pulled the panel from under the dash and found the motor. It was running - backwards. It was basically pushing semi-tempered air across the sensor instead of drawing in cabin air across it. I popped off the harness connector back, switch the two leads, re-connected, and presto; it now passes the "paper test", in that it can hold a small piece of paper up against it while activated. I have no idea why it was like this - the previous owner was not a "fiddler", but it does explain why the system was always a little slow to bring the cabin to the desired temp (in heat - A/C is currently not running). Just thought I'd share...

Is there anything the Clowns won't mess with?
I'm thinking I need to dis-mount the Tires and check... just in case.

I'll bet it was like that from the factory. The wires just got pushed into the wrong holes on the plug end.
I can't think of a reason why somebody would change that deliberately for any other reason than a practical joke or sabotage.

Quote:
Where is Greenbushy? I lived in Geraldton in the mid 70's; and spent some time in Meekathara; never heard of Greenbushy though. Is that a suburb of Perth? I'm an ex-pat; I was born and raised in Adelaide.

Hi Simonshearer,, Greenbushes is 275km south of Perth between Balingup and Bridgetown. The reason i was looking under our drivers side was because that is the Americans glove box side, turns out it is under our glove box which is the Americans drivers side lol. I found the hose had come off i found i couldn't get the the hose on and the fan sitting in the bracket with the kick panel down so i put the kick panel back up and took the glove box out and got my hand thru there to mount the fan in the bracket properly, id say the previous owner has tried to mount the fan and hose back into place with the kick panel down.... And now my climate control works well,,, cheap fix
