Starting Problem w/ 190E 2.3L
 

I am having a problem starting the car after it has warmed up. If the car has sat for more than 2 minutes it can take as few as two but usually it take more like three to five times before it fires up.

I have already replaced both the check valve and the accumulator. A MB mechanic said that the fuel distributor. was leaking a bit, but I was also told that because the car passed emissions that it was not the fuel distributor.

Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful.

P.S. Cold start has no problem.

I always start with checking and sometimes replacing the Over Voltage Protection relay = OVP!

Thanks for the reply. I stopped by the MB shop and asked how to test the OVP. He stated that if that were the case that my ABS light would come on immediately when the car was started. The light does not come on immediately, but does come on when I take a right hand turn sharply.

He also mentioned that OVP would have a problem with a cold start, which it does not.

Again, thanks for the tip. I will continue to pursue till I know for sure that it is not the OVP.

Under the intake is a hose going from the idle air valve to the bottom directly under the air plate you have to stick your arm by the power steering pump and under there and check that hose they will get brittle with the heat and oil and sometimes leak or completely come off. It will start cold because of the rich mixture at startup but be difficult when the car is warm and the mixture is leaner.

Thank you for the tip. I will give that a try and see what happens. It makes sence since the car has no problem with the cold start.
