Anti-lock brakes on a w124

So now that the snow has come I've noticed that the anti-lock brakes on the benz are not as responsive and efficient as those on my other cars. What's the deal with these braking systems? I'm going to do a flush and see if that will help, or are these 1 generation abs systems just not that great?

Of course depending on the year & model there are 3 different type systems.

Even the Standard system on the 1986-95 cars w/o ASR was a good 3 channel system.
