300ce rubber at window

hi guys

noticed the plastic window pane has "scratch lines". most likely due to the rubber losing its elasticity over time and probably dirt got trapped there and now scratching the plastic window pane. so i enquired about this piece of rubber.... wow! extremely expensive just for a piece of rubber!

anyone has any experience replacing this piece? or is there a good aftermarket type available?

thx guys!

which rubber piece? the one for the rear side window that forms a seal for the front side window?

how much did they cost at the dealership? the rubbers on my car are basically solid at this point and i NEED to replace them as it's bothering me to no end.

I've had the same problem. ALL of my windows are scratched badly because of the grit getting in the rubbers. I assume you're talking about the rubber that runs along the bottom of the window glass (outside) where it disappears into the door cavity?

I took mine out and cleaned them with soap and a scrubbing brush... helped stop more scratches, but the grit came back after some time, so back to square 1.

How much were you quoted for new ones?

Well at least im not the only one with scratches
It seems futile to even try and polish them out, im tinting my windows this spring. should be less visible?

exactly!

i was quoted almost usd200 for one piece! there's an outer piece and an inner piece sandwiching the window pane. this quote is just for the outer piece!

was told replacing the outer piece will do. but at this price... at least there's just 2 windows.

My rear windows are a bit scratched too, so they'd likely need replacing as well.

USD $200 is outrageous. I can only imagine what the stealer want's for them here....

Molded rubbers are typically only available at the dealer. An option is to find used in good condition. I found a couple of CE's in the dismantler but I haven't checked the rubbers. Most CE body parts are rare and pricey compared to the sedans...

BTW, while at SEMA a few years ago I found a system from Glasweld that repairs scratches. Look them up...
