I have a 1998 E320 4 matic wagon. An "oil level sensor defective" warning message comes up every so often. Where is this on the 104.995 engine? How is it replaced? Is it likely to be just a bad connection that can be repaired? Suggestions?

It's sitting on the oil pan on the left side of the engine with 2 screws and easy to change. You might have to drain some oil out. Shouldn't be too expensive. Mercedes list price $54.00 part# 124-547-00-17 also you will need an "O" ring $1.70 part#015-997-39-48.

If you are a DIY'er replace the oil level sensor next time you change oil. It's a simple job. Recently replaced the oil level sensor on our 1995 E320 due to the low oil level warning light being lit despite the proper level on the dipstick.
