W211 Air Bag Question
2006 E500 4Matic Wagon I have an SRS problem. The car has set codes 9123 and 9103. The description says Ignitor circut resistance value is incorrect for circuts R-12 & 13 and R-12 & 14. This is the second time the car has set the codes. Does anyone know what these codes mean? Thanks John

Answer
That indicates the igniter (blasting cap) wire is damaged = high odds the air bag is junk.

Air bags are a dangerous thing to work with. Basically enough explosives to kill or hurt someone. And the kicker is that they can be set of with just static electricity! Thanks for the link above.
I am trying to find out what circuits the computer is talking about. I did find a reference in benzworld about a clock spring problem when those codes are found. Unfortunately a different chassis number but hopefully the same system. See the following link. http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r171-slk-class/1218479-alldata-mercedes-technical-service-bulletins-recalls-3.html If I am interpreting correctly what was said in the link above there is a software problem ( BUG is what was said below the reference codes ) and a software update probably has not been installed to resolve the issue. Newer cars like this one do need to have the proper updates to the software to work correctly. Thanks John |
