What's special about a E420 "special edition"

I've been thinking of trading up from my 300e (is there any other direction to go?). The 300e is great (I put in stiffer springs & sport shocks) but too slow for my liking (see my signature below).

Anyway, I saw an 1995 E420 "special edition" for sale in the next city over but after scouring the internet I've found no info as to what's "special". Also, did they ever make a "sport" in '94 or '95? Someone here surely has one of these. If so, please share your experiences pro or con.

BTW the asking price is $16,500 w/113,000 mi.

MB 'special edition' are usually the last production year of a chassis, often with upgraded wheels, option lists, and paint. As such they are nice because they often have fixed any of the tweaks that appear in any car that get workrd out over the production life of that chassis.

There is a recent thread where MBDoc got the european sport suspension set up for somebody who has a 420E

The special edition W124 cars had upgraded trim equiptment that was "left-over" from production & added to help sell the last cars in 1995. ie; DIFFERENT wheels, & chrome door sill covers. Also they had factory cell phones & CD players at "low" $$$ option.

Thanks!

Thanks guys. Sounds like it's not worth paying much extra for a "special edition"
