Mercedes benz 500SE 1984

My Mercedes benz 500SE 1984 Engine is now worn out and I have decided to get another engine. Is there any difference if I get a 500SE 1991 engine or later. Will there be any modifications to be made ie on gearbox, flywheel etc?. i will really appreciate any help.
