'92 190E Exhaust Replacement
Hey all, I embarked on a 1000+ mile trip the other day only to have my exhaust drop off in the middle of my trip on the expressway outside of Atlanta. I lost everything behind the catalytic and didn't want to play Frogger across 4 lanes to try to recover it. Needless to say I need to replace most of the exhaust.
I was given an Estimate from Midas for 973.02 with the bulk of that being for parts,(725.96 in all) 348.99 for the center muffler,367.99 for the rear muffler and about 10 bucks for the clamps/gaskets. I was able to find new direct OE replacement made by Bosal for a fraction of the cost, both mufflers for only 275. Is this something that if I order the parts I should be able to do myself with out a problem? Also, i'm still in the middle of my trip, if I were to buy a generic center inlet/outlet muffler would that make my car quite till I made it home to fix with the OE parts? Would It hurt the car any? I cant stand having my car sound like this, I'm embarrassed when I drive by other Mercedes especially because I pride myself in taking care of my cars. Any words of advice are appreciated, thanks!
