sealant
Does anyone know possibly where you can purchase Hylomar sealant at?
|
You should be able to find it as "loctite 574" .. Napa has it ussually? It looks like red loctite. Oh, hope I got the right product.
I actually prefer the Wurth flange sealers. They are both anerobic sealers but the loctite product is kinda brittle when taken apart. The wurth seems more flexible. I'm going to buy some orange stuff. Both products are in the $15-25 range. Michael |

at Harbor Freight believe it or not, looking on line it lists it as discontinued but it might be still on the shelf at the store is one is close to you. Manufactured, distributed by Permatex now also! So any NAPA should have it! http://www.permatex.com/products/Automotive/automotive_gasketing/gasket_sealants/auto_Permatex_Hylomar_Universal_Blue_Racing_Formula_Gasket_Dressing_Flange_Sealant.htm |
Thanks, I will try Napa and see if they carry it here.

You can go to a BMW dealer and order 81 22 9 400 339
This will get you made in Germany hylomar. |
I am told referring to some previous info listed this is the preferred sealant to be using on the cam covers?? The feedback is like this stuff works and sets with no waiting period to be able to run the engine. Like got it done and back on the road!

Let me correct myself-
574 is anerobic so there is a small time to set after the joint is tight and it's approved for the cam magnets. But, this isn't hylomar... Michael |
