2005 C230 Sport - Erratic Oil Light
 

Well, it is my daughter's car and it now has just over 100k miles. There seem to be some budding electrical/computer system problems, from rough running and a repeated code citing low engine coolant temperatures and now the system seems to be saying it is using oil at an alarming rate - it was about 2500 to 3000 miles to a quart of Delvac 1 5W-40 synthetic for the previous 99,800 miles. Oil changes every 6,000 to 8,000 miles.

We will acquire a dipstick tomorrow and check the oil level manually, but I was wondering if these things have any issues with the computer needing to be rebooted or any class symptoms. Before I start into looking for a real oil consumption problem.

MB opened a Service Campaign for oil in the wiring harness on that model.
Has that been done yet?

Not to my knowledge. Is there a bulletin number I can track that down with available? It has been to MB for several of the scheduled services in the last few years but I saw nothing in the paperwork she saves saying any wiring harness work was done.

Can you tell me anything about what the service does? And is it similar to a recall or is it a fix you pay for once you are off warranty (and this car is off warranty)?
