Help identifying damaged cable 1992 230E
 

Hi All,

I was working on my cruise control last night and had the air cleaner off. While it was off I noticed a damaged cable which has worn where it rubs on the air cleaner crank case breather inlet.

Does anyone know what this cable is for? In the picture I've shown the crank case breather hose for reference.

Part of engine wiring harness. If you have no running issues, just insulate the area.
