Rear view mirror

Are there any adjustment that can be made on the inside rear view mirror in order to tighten it or do you have to buy new ones. Mine has lost its firmness and is starting to flop around.

Car is a '92 W124.

Thanks in advance.

Tightening the inside rear view mirror

This is a common issue as time goes by. There is a way to fix this. You have to twist the mirror off the support ball. Just move the mirror as far as possible in any direction until it will not go any further. Then continue to twist until the support ball pops out of the socket. There is a screw in the ball that you can now tighten. Some are allen type. Most are phillips screws. You will need a bit of elbow grease to tighten this screw. Take care not to strip it. It will turn just a bit. That's all you need to tighten the screw and secure the ball once again.

Now assemble the mirror glass frame back onto the ball. I always place the glass face down on a firm surface. Position the support bar with the ball in the socket. Then apply firm pressure to the bar forcing the ball back into the socket.

I sell interior mirrors on Ebay for several Mercedes chassis from W116, 108 123 124 201 and 126, and admit have broken my share to settle on the above steps as the best for me to fix this problem.
I hope this info helps.
