Any W124 drivers need headlight bulbs?

So I was looking for headlight bulbs cuz the bulbs in the 400E are DIM!!! I thought it might just be me, going from my Mini to the Benz the mini has really nice bright lights. But my buddy was in the car last night and said whats up with your headlights they suck, THANKS!!! So I was looking around the net today, and found some silver star ultra's 9004SU for the car on Amazon for $30.66 shipped sound like a good deal?? I think I might jump on it, even if there not as good as they claim they have to be better than what I got now. I got a friend who put them in his vw passat and loved them! Anyone try these bulbs?? Are they any good??

Dear 88260e,
I do recommend those bulbs. They were the next best replacement behind HID. Relatively expensive for bulbs in general, but worth it. Keep the replacement date in a journal as some in forums and manufacture sites recommend changing them every two years as the luminosity decreases over time. Not sure as mine are only 1 y.o. ('94 E420).
Luck to you,
Tadahh

If it's a pre-'94 with US lights, you're just going to get whiter glare.

BTW, Hella has an ultra-white with better specs and better life than the Sylvania SS-U

Get Euro lights or '94/'95 lights and you'll be happy that you did.

Any money spent "upgrading" the us lights is money that should have been spent / saved towards the install of euro lights. You can't fix bad optics with brighter lamps.

I have those in my W124 and the ultra version in my W126. Very good light output considering the "average" lenses/assemblies. Way better than sealed beams on a W126 though!

So for $30 bucks I think I will go for it. How much would it cost to upgrade to 94/95's?
