Drink Holder Malfunction

The drink cup holder on my 2004 E320 refuses to pop-up as designed when OPEN is pressed. The last time I used it it worked as designed? Is this DIY fix or am I looking at a shop expen$e? I'm very mechanically inclined if someone out there has experienced the same problem. Thanks in advance.
